Congress Must Block Trump's Illegal War on Iran

On Saturday, June 21, at President Trump’s direct orders, U.S. B‑2 bombers and Tomahawk missiles struck three Iranian nuclear facilities—Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan—in a dramatic and unconstitutional escalation.

This is the first time the U.S. has bombed Iranian territory in nearly half a century—and it was done without any authorization from Congress.

This is a dangerous violation of our Constitution. Only Congress has the authority to declare war, yet Trump acted unilaterally. In response, Rep. Thomas Massie and a growing bipartisan coalition in Congress are pushing a War Powers resolution to reaffirm that the president cannot launch military attacks without explicit approval.

Congress must pass this resolution immediately to reassert its constitutional authority and prevent further escalation.

Iran has already vowed retaliation. Several missiles have struck Israeli territory in response, and U.S. bases in the region are now on high alert. Meanwhile, Republicans are split—some defending Trump’s strike, while others, including members of his own party, question the legality of the move.

Democrats like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez are calling the attack “clearly grounds for impeachment.” And across the globe, allies are calling for urgent diplomacy to prevent a wider conflict.

Make no mistake: this could spark a full-blown war—dragging the United States into yet another deadly, endless conflict in the Middle East. The American people were never consulted. Congress was never given the chance to vote. This was an unconstitutional act of war, launched by one man without legal authority or accountability.

We must draw the line—now. Add your name to demand Congress immediately pass the War Powers resolution and block any further unauthorized attacks. Our democracy cannot afford to let a president bypass the Constitution and unilaterally launch a war.
